Tattle on Nannies, Bad Drivers, and Others
As kids, if someone did something wrong or against the rules, we knew how to get justice: We told on them. But as adults, who are we supposed to run to in tears when someone cuts us off or our HMO screws us over? The police? No, the Internet.
USA Today has compiled a great list of Web sites that let users "tattle" on just about anyone an anything. Nannies who mistreat kids, for example, are liable to get reported up at isawyournanny.blogspot.com. Obnoxious drivers may get snitched on at Platewire.com, which lets users post complaints about other drivers along with their license plate numbers. (A similar site, Irate-Driver.com, even lets you upload a photo of an offending motorist.)
And there's more. Litterbutt.com calls out all the jerks who use Mother Nature as their own personal garbage can, while Caughtya.org documents drivers who illegally park in handicap spots (you know who you are). Lastly, check out RudePeople.com, a catch-all destination for tattling on everyone from office managers to people with smelly feet.
The best part about Internet tattling? No after-school wedgies.

There is one or more on teachers as well. Any kid or parent who hates a teacher, no matter how horrible the poster may be can say any awful thing they want about a teacher and publicly post it. As usual teachers have no rights at all. The same kid can get on and write bad review after bad review on it and if the teacher is looking for a job, employers can look them up on the site and it can make it almost impossible for them to get one. It is just another example of how teachers in this nation are not respected and why people should not enter this field of work.
I am all for freedom of speech but with freedom comes responsibility and people should not use the internet to slander others. The victims of these site should be able to know who is doing the postings and they should have to prove their statements to be true. People should have to be al least 18 to post.
There is just something really wrong with how a person of poor character has an unlimited right to go online and publish cruel things about under paid, hard working dedicated, public servants.

If people would conduct theirselves like civilized and responsible people, sites like these would not have been created. I am particulary concerned by the children I have seen mistreated on the streets in NYC. How would I ever contact that person's nanny? I don't know that person. The nanny site is a bit different because these nannies are getting paid to do a job. Clearly, they are in need of a little supervision.

The point REALLY is that nobody checks on the people who are making the accusations. There's little or no chance to refute the charges. As such,it is potentially ripe for abuse and slander. The people could be crazy, have an agenda, or be just plain wrong. How many of us have had others make statements about us that were either wrong or misleading? Anyone who relies on these sites to make any kind rational decision about someone, without checking facts, needs to have his head examined. And NO site of this kind should allow anonymity. If you want to say something about someone, be an adult and say who you are. If it's a lie, make sure you have a good lawyer.

FWIW, there was some success reported through http://caughtya.org. The incidence of abuse of disability parking spaces in three small cities have been reduced dramatically, as the word got around that "if you park there illegally, a photo of your car will appear online". It works.

JUDY said:I wonder why men who are paying child support think that
they are paying their ex wives? IT IS CHILD SUPPORT> The guy
complaining that his ex isn't working is not paying 500 a month for
her this is the amount of money the judge ordered him to pay for the
kids. NOT his ex LOL.>>>>>>>So, JUDY - You say the judge ordered that money to go to the children's name? That's amusing. I say the Child Support is to "support" the
child - to pay bills and put the roof over their head incl. food and
supplies FOR them (not to give TO them; this is not an ALLOWANCE). Children do not support THEMSELVES - listen to yourself.
It is to enable the mother to care for her children. My ex fixed it
so my children would come up to me all the time asking me to GIVE
THEM "their child support money." Would you REALLY give $500 a month
to YOUR kid? And if so, then may I ask how you pay your mortgage,
rent, and bills?
