Mother's Day Wish #3An MP3 Player
Tim,
My wish would be for something to let me listen to music when I'm out walking the dogs or when I'm sitting at my desk at work. I have that old yellow Walkman, but it's hard to find anything on tape these days, and it's kind of big anyway. Something small would be nice, but don't spend too much.
Love,
Mom
Mom,
The Walkman was super-cool in the '80s (especially that yellow Sports model), but there's a reason my sister left it behind when she went off to college. The cassette tape is dead and portable CD players are more trouble than they're worth these days. What I'm getting you is an MP3 player, and Creative's new ZEN Stone ($39) sounds like the perfect model, since it even comes in bright yellow like the Walkman! The ZEN Stone will store a few hours of your favorite Christmas carols and Bing Crosby CDs (the included software will help you easily convert these tunes for the player). It's smaller than a credit-card, too, so carrying it around won't be a problem -- just make sure you keep it away from the dogs. You saw what they did to my cell phone.
Love,
Tim
