7. Safety and Security Center: Virus and Spyware Protection
If you're bummed by the thought of some snotty 15 year-old hacking into your computer, stealing your credit card numbers, reading your email, and deleting your files, you might want to think about online prevention. AOL Safety and Security Center provides a firewall and 24-hour protection against viruses and spyware (software that collects personal information from your computer without your consent). All you need to snag this free bodyguard for your computer is an AOL e-mail address (also free), and a PC running Windows XP or 2000 -- a Vista version is on the way.

this garbage isnt FREE! dont believe the lie----AOL quit offering free ANYTHING except email addresses about a month a go. Unless you think $69.95 per year for their "comprehensive security center" sounds free, dont fall for it. its bollox.

This is a great program. I found it on the internet after trying to get some pesky spyware off of my computer. It has many options such as parental controls and will scan your computer for spyware AND viruses. Even better-it will remove them too, without having to buy a key code. All you need is a (FREE) AOL address! It's WONDERFUL!

AOL Lies I signed up on that free AOL e-mail address, and it said FREE! But guess what every month on my credit bill I am charge twenty bucks a month. You want a god anti-virus program, it isn't free but it's worth, I'm talking about Norton Internet Security, it picks up more than any and gets rid of them all. I love it and I'm on the tightest budget imaginable but knowing my credit won't get stolen from hackers, in the long run it's money well spent.
