77 Percent Will Pass on iPhone

Apple's iPhone has been generating huge amounts of hype and coverage since its announcement, and the buzz has only grown as we approach the highly anticipated June release date. But, if the results of a recent study are any indication, that buzzing is largely falling on deaf ears.

The Markitecture study shows that, of 1,300 people polled, an impressive 77 percent had heard of the iPhone but 66 percent had absolutely no interest in buying one, most scared off by the $499 to $599 price tags. Only six percent of those polled were genuinely interested, a seemingly small number. However, if you take the liberty of expanding that figure over the 233 million cell phone users in the U.S., six percent could add up to an awful lot of iPhones (14 million or so) and another huge windfall for Apple.
