Best Free Stuff on the Internet: Music

Music

For those among you who like the idea of not paying a freaking red cent for your music but don't want to actually do anything illegal-ish, some good options exist. eMusic gives you two weeks to download 25 MP3s of your choosing; should you choose to cancel after the two weeks, you keep said MP3s at no charge. There's also the music subscription service Napster, which now allows you to listen to any of the three-million-plus songs in its database up to three times a piece for no charge. If you decide you just need to hear 'The Girl From Ipanema' for the fourth time, you'll have to subscribe for $14.95 per month (or take a trip to Vegas). You can also get a free one-week trial of the full-fledged service, which lets you transfer songs to portable players.
