This goes to the ones trashing the girl....You are all JEALOUS! C'mon, admit it. This girl has no control over who gives out money. You should be mad at the companies who do this. Each and everyone of you who trashed the girl, what have you done for this country? What have you given to Charity? NOTHING probably. So stop being so damn selfish and jealous.

ok basically i think that there are a lot of better uses for that money but its not her fault that someone offered her the chance to win it.she won it fair and square and who are any of you to say she doesn't deserve it, i dont think its your decision. if any of you people were given the chance to get $25,00, you would abandon your "morals" just as fast so stop acting all high and mighty

What a waste of money! Even if she was the most modest girl in the world and even gave it all to charity, that's wrong! For a company(ies) to hold that is absolutly disgusting. People are dying in car crashes because of others or themselves texting and now they're rewarding a meer teenager whos mind can be minipulated for learning how to spell correctly and type it fast!?!?! Now, we all know our country is pretty much a gas guzzling, consuming, arrogant, self-centered, and material land but please. So many people could have been helped with that money. It's not like she'll need to upgrade her plan because she obviously gets a lot of practice but if they want to give a teenager money for something like that, give her a savings bond or a family vacation of their choice. This country really has gone to the material airheaded dogs.

I know this is an old subject, but to Kat who replied the amount of money is disgusting...do you watch the superbowl or any tv or listen to radio or even read a newspaper? Do you know how much money is spent on commercials! A ton more than $25,000! It is all about marketing...trying to get YOU to notice their product. $25,000 is actually an inexpensive marketing campain considering the amount of press this generated. I think I saw her on the Today Show and one of late night shows. On another note: they just had the 2nd annual text thing...and someone else won...and he won $50,000! Plus the contest was open to all ages, they can't give certain prizes like a scholarship to a teenager and if the 28 year old engineer won, what would he get? Hopefully her parents will make her save it, but regardless...she won it fair and square.

That 25K could've gone to the needy or disease research. But no, yet another idiot throws it away on something stupid. Tell me, where will being the "texting queen" get you in life? Sure, offices will want to hire you because they know you can type quickly. Other than that, there's nothing too grat about this. (Especially the fact that twenty-five thousand very useful dollars were wasted on THAT!)

And this is newsworthy because...? I'd like to see how Morgan has time to get her homework done. And I wouldn't be surprised if she's one of those obnoxious brats in class whose teacher has to tell her to put the phone away. What a waste of $25K.

people are being killed at war. people are dying in our streets, and we recognize a 13 year old with $25,000 for texting. I don't understand why other countries just don't get us?

Welcome to capitalism, [previous posters], your country is built on it. And i bet the damn contest was just a company/industry gimmick to bring publicity. Buisness is business, and believe me buesiness doesn't thrive on giving to charity. Selfish of them? Yeah. Realistic goal? Hell no. But looking at this country's GDP I think this country pisses away considerably more on things far worse.

Come on people what good is thrashing someone about their texting abilities going to do? Yeah sure you say these things now but can you honestly tell me that if someone walked up and gave you $25,000 the first thought on your mind would be "Oh my, I bet a charity could use this money give it to them." I can tell you right now in most cases the answer there would be NO! Besides, the article doesn't mention what she has done or is going to do with the money...who knows maybe she will give some to charity. As for everyone who thrashed this girl about how she won money, you should be thrashing the company(ies) that contributed the money for the contest. GEEZE!

you people are nuts. it's simply entertainment. you could say the same thing about sports? why should a rod be paid 250 million for playing baseball? think about what your saying and give the girl some credit. she won a contest and deserves the money. she has a talent that you don't whether you care about it or not. grow up and be realistic

You people are amazing. This girl is probably going to put this money towards her college education where she will learn how to be a productive member of society. Who knows what she will become or in how many ways she might contribute to the world. Why are so many people who post here so shallow? Why am I even responding? Out
