BlackBerry Crash Bug Revealed

Earlier this week, BlackBerry users were left somewhat in the dark when the device's network suffered a serious failure, resulting in no e-mails being delivered to devices for the better part of a day. Word is out now that the problem was due to buggy a software update going live, which brought down the company's e-mail delivery system. The update was apparently intended to help RIM handle more e-mails in its (surely overloaded) storage systems.

In what must be the understatement of the year thus far, a RIM statement said that "the pre-testing of the system routine proved to be insufficient."
