Can Vince Young Beat the Madden Curse?

Sports gamers know that being selected to appear on the cover of 'Madden NFL' is about as high an honor as you can expect to receive in the video game world. The immensely popular game sold two million copies in its first week last year, and it's unlikely things will change this year.

What many gamers don't know is that being selected to appear on the cover also brings a curse. History has shown that being on the cover means you're almost guaranteed to either have some sort of injury or just have a miserable season. Last year's cover star Shaun Alexander suffered from a broken ankle that put him out for most of the season. 2006's Donovan McNabb came down with a nagging hernia. 2005's Ray Lewis didn't manage a single interception that year (despite six the previous year), and 2004's Michael Vick fractured his fibula in the pre-season.

This year's sucker for the cover of 'Madden 08' is Tennessee Titans quarterback Vince Young, last year's NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year. Can he buck the trend, or will he be the latest star brought down by a video game?
