I am not a liberal. But I Know that anything that can be done should. This country is more or less the example for the world. Open your minds. Whether there is damage to this earth through global warming or any other method may or may not be true, however, the point is if we continue to abuse this earth there will be serious consequnces for our childrens children. Lets help stop the 20-50s mentality of who cares about the earth, just make money. Do you think this earth can sustain the continual punishment we continue to give it. Wake the F up.

For those of you that do not know much about the ndustrialized areas of Russia and China. I can tell you from personal experience that these countries do not monitor pollution output on any scale close to the standards that the United Staes presses on our industry. The truth is that the U.S. industrial base pollutes less per facility and is monitored more closely than any other country in the world. The taxpayers and consumers of the United States pay billions of dollars into the implementation of pollution reduction technology and its continued studies. Some of this is ordered by legislation, however, I beleive that some of you would be surprised by the amount that our industries go beyond what is necessary.
I am not sold on the "global warming" information that I have seen so many times pushed by Mr. Gore and his team of enthusiasts.
I have spoken to many environmental scientists that say this information can be easily skewed. The fact is Mr. Gore does not have enough data to make any real determination on global warming. We do know that the earth has cycled, that is, cooled off and warmed up more than a couple of times. We can make some wild predictions based on this. I will bet July 2007 will be hot in the Southern U.S. in January 2008 it will be fairly cold in Maine.

It's like conservative Keith says above (regarding Lake Eire): "When dumping was put to an end the lake, over a period of time, cleaned itself and is now a recreational destination for millions of midwesterners." So it appears that conservatives and liberals (like me) agree that the way to reverse the trashing of our universe is to STOP TRASHING OUR UNIVERSE just so a few greedy CEOs can get richer.

Reading your posted comments on the Earth Day piece fills me with despair. Without exception, the writers display poor writing and reasoning skills, coupled with horrifying levels of ignorance and bigotry. The evidence is in, the facts are clear. We are hellbent on destroying ourselves and the environment that sustains us - and Americans are leading the charge. The only good thing to emerge from all of this will be the extincion of a species that no longer deserves to inherit the earth.
Jim PinterApr 19th 2007 8:39AM
It seems to me that Americans are more conscious and "green" than almost any other country on earth.
Those on the left ignore that issue, and think that we should completely alter our lives because their "science" has proven the idea that global warming is largely a result of human polution of the atmosphere.
There is definitely a small contributing factor, but not nearly as large as they would have you believe.
Those who scream of the uncaring right wing zealots should remind that the people who are at
the forefront of those notions can also be thought of as over emotional.left wing zealots.
No room for sensible people in the middle, is there?

This is a new high in self-importance BS. The only way to reduce the amount of energy available to this planet is to extinguish the Sun. OOOps!! I just gave the Algores of the world another idea. Also, the core of our planet is liquid metal, kinda hot. OOOps!! again.
Human activity is so irrelevant to the health of our planet that it should never be mentioned. The biggest problem these liberal lunatics have is that humans are the only species discovered to date that you can take to court and strip them of their money.
Grazing animals and volcanoes are the biggest producers of greenhouse gases. I'm sure there are wackos out there working on how to get academic funding from these two sources.
SAVE THE PLANET, EAT MORE BEEF.
We're saving whales in ever increasing numbers. This is going to be the new threat to our oceans. The ever increasing amount of whale poop is poisoning our oceans. Algore's new project has to be how to bag the whales' poop chutes.
Well, kiddies, got to go practice some evil capitalism so I can generate enough money to pay the next academic wacko.

most of you are dead wrong. The U.S. emits one third of the total green house gasses released on earth. the only other region releasing more for it's size is nigeria. People like you are turning people away from the global warming effort and it can be prevented. The earth won't be destroyed but it will be flooded and the duration and intensity of storms and hurricanes will increase. This could cause an end to civiization. I saw some comments about God and how man can't destroy God's creation. You people are being hypocrites and you're just as bad as satanists. you're leading people away from the light.
Doug ParkerApr 19th 2007 8:46AM
Common sense should come first. Yes,we are probably making some negative impact on the earth.I think the automobile is a very worthwhile invention. We just need to change fuels, which is happening.Same goes for power plants. Problems can be solved. Wind and solar power are coming on strong. People need to stop finger pointing and work for positive changes. Hot air is the most damaging pollution.

STOP EXHALING!

Isn't it strange how the trees that are being planted as "Carbon Credits" cause 'Global Warming'. I do believe we need to cut every tree which is not a tropical tree (the ones that do reduce 'Global Warming' to help save our planet!!!! ;-)
CarolApr 19th 2007 9:34AM
Well while we are on the enviromental subject...I have often thought about the environmentally unfriendly practice of embolming and the affects of putting those toxic chemicals into the earth...maybe society should rethink this practice...Afterall it's not easy being green...it makes you think too much!...and thinking means hmmm maybe we have to change...Think about it.
MrsMomApr 19th 2007 9:27AM
Oh, so because poorer countries are making messes we don't have to clean ours up? That's just infantile reasoning. This is America, for heaven's sake, and we can lead again despite the whiny crybabies who say we can't change our ways or can't innovate or can't trust science. Of course we can have a high living standard, but we don't have to be wasteful to do it. There's a lot we can do individually if we aren't too lazy to make some simple changes. And China and India point to us as an excuse to keep polluting, so if we get a move on and set an example, others will follow. Sheesh! Turn off Rush Limbaugh and read a newspaper for a change!

This is NOT about liberials, conservatives, China etc. This is a WORLDWIDE issue. For those who call it BS, I suggest you read the Science journals and/or collect ALL of the facts before forming and stating ignorant opinions. Only a fool would do otherwise. It's true, it may not be an emergency in OUR lifetime, but I for one care about our decendants and our future as a species.
JackApr 19th 2007 9:18AM
This is NOT about liberals, politics or other countries. This is a worldwide issue. Only fools form and state their opinions without collecting, studying and UNDERSTANDING the facts.
While it is true that we may not face a dire emergency in OUR lifetimes, it is completely irresponsible and callous to ignore what our descendants will face.
In the United States, we pride ourselves on leading the world. Let us lead by example, not through ignorance.
irwinApr 19th 2007 11:42AM
Is it maybe the ever increasing number of humans that require food, energy and exhale greenhouse gases (CO2) that are causing the gobal warming?
Not once have any of our world leaders even mentioned the problem of over population, nor will they.
