Greenpeace has repeatedly taken issue with Apple, which the environmental agency claims is far behind other computer manufacturers when it comes to recycling programs and the removal of certain toxic substances from its products. Though Greenpeace concedes that Apple has recently stepped up its environmental commitment in the U.S., there's plenty more the company can be doing throughout the rest of the world, the organization says.Is Greenpeace creating a big fuss in an attempt to ride the coattails of Apple's success? We wouldn't put it past them. But its beef with Apple was serious enough to spark the launch of www.greenmyapple.org, a Greenpeace-run Web site site committed to getting Apple caught up with the environmental times. Greenpeace's pick for the greenest computer maker? Lenovo. Somewhere, that "I'm a PC" guy is gloating.

Both Apple and Microsoft have a ways to go in the "green" department. This is a work in progress.

I am sure making ipods takes some energy, but consider how many cds will never have to be made because of people downloading songs to those ipods. This should give apple some credit!
