Sony Kills Low(er)-End PS3
For many, $600 seems like a ridiculous amount of scratch to pay for a video-game console. Perhaps that's why, when Sony decided to charge exactly that amount for its PS3, the company also announced a somewhat less ridiculously-priced $500 model. This still very well-equipped bundle lacked only a bit of hard drive space (20 gigabytes versus 60) and wireless networking. At prices that high, however, it seems this $100 'deal' was more or less ignored at retail (turns out the more expensive version sold at a ratio of 10 to 1). And now, less than six months after the two-pronged PS3 launch, Sony has decided to axe the meaker PS3, meaning that if you want a PS3, the lowest and only point of entry is $600. So much for frugality.

sony is a great company. once upon a time it was leading the gaming world in the game war. now just negativity flows from its corporate offices. the ps3 IS the best system out there but the price and promotions lacked the fire that the other consoles received. the price is also a major factor in the purchase of games. Sony needs to figuire out its priorities. money or customers ( i hope there still smart enough to figure that one out.) ^_^
