iPod Stops a Bullet
The Apple iPod. Cultural icon. Technological revolution. Life saver...? Yes, according to Kevin Garrad, an infantryman deployed in Iraq. While on patrol in Iraq, he turned a corner and found himself face to face with an AK-47 wielding insurgent. Both fired and both took hits. The insurgent died, but Kevin was lucky enough to to have a 20 gigabyte iPod in his chest pocket in addition to his body armor. The iPod nobly took the round, its (scratched) metal backing slowing the slug before letting the armor finish the job of stopping it short of causing him any damage. The device is of course ruined now, but here's hoping Apple is good enough to send Kevin a replacement player. We might recommend a matching Kevlar carrying case.

Who cares if they other guy died.. The iPod saved the soliders' life...Who cares if he shouldn't have an iPod..if he didn't he wouldn't be alive today.
GO iPOD!!! Apple better give him a new one.

I agree with bennett. Yes, that soldier is very lucky, and I am also grateful for all the men and women in the US army who leave their family and risk their lives everyday. But another person died, "terrorist" or not. People should not be required to join the military if they want, "TO MAKE THIS COUNTRY A BETTER PLACE TO LIVE."
There are more Al-Qaida operatives in Iraq now than before we attacked..I guess this war on terror is working. Our freedom is more in jeopardy now than it was before the war.
If more government officials and super rich were required to send their kids into war then I'm sure funding would drop drastically. Stop spending an upwards of $460 Billion on a fight for Oil and put more money into the needs of the hard, working class American Public.
One more thing Jaybird. You talk about Iraqi's not being humane? Why don't you go to Quantanamo Bay and any other place were Bush has hundreds of suspected people locked up whose rights, according to Bush, do not fall under the Geneva Convention. Many were/are subjected to abusive interrogation techniques that could constitute torture.
*know the facts of both sides of the story before you speak

Adreanna... Im glad you know the facts. good job, keep it up. but while you are in your comfort zone, we are making sure that guys like the ones in gatmo bay cuba dont climb those gates and harm you. The same type of guys who are shooting at us in Iraq. If you want to complain, complain about why we have rules of engagements sometimes we cant shoot back. Go put on you tye dye shirt and headband and argue that. You may not agree with this war, but dont bash it. Dont tell me that my fighting is worthless Im a Marine and my 10 yr old cousin was on the plane that hit the pentagon. Now i will give my life if need be to make sure that doesnt happen again. My baby cousin didnt deserve to die. He didnt have a gun, and he wasnt firing at soldiers. this insurgent was, and got wat he deserved. maybe you have to lose what i lost to see it my way. but either way. I dont give a f*ck. Ima do what i do. so if you dont stand behind us, then stand in front of us.
Oorah Sergeant Garrad. I think need to vote on government issued ipods

Adreanna,
I don't know where you get your so called 'facts', but I think you need to check them out. Yes we have terrorists detained in Cuba and yes they may be what some left wing idiots consider tortured, but at least we don't chop off their God D@##ed heads and put it on the internet.
It's you and your kind that encourage the terrorists to attack us.

To everyone who is opposed to the war in Iraq:
I am one of the few people here who actually knows what goes on over there. I just got home from my second deployment in Iraq. I was stationed just outside of Baghdad each time. Making a trip into the capital was like facing death each time. I know why I joined the Marines, and I knew what I would be facing when I joined. If you think a soldier should be punished for having an iPod in his pocket, you need to think again. That iPod saved his life, he may/may not have been using it, but I can bet he wasn't. It's loud there, and you are always uneasy and on alert while patrolling the streets. As for Adreanna, I spent 2 months down at Quantanamo Bay, I'm not going to lie, some things that happen there are bad. And those soldiers were punished for them. But you need to understand just how we are viewed in their eyes before you speak. When you look at them, you don't see somebody with remorse, they wanted to die for their god, by killing as many Americans as they could. Believe it or not, most troops stationed there didn't go because they wanted to kill, they did it because they want to fight for what they believe in. And the insurgents over in Iraq will use any means possible, just to kill one more American. Thank you all for reading this, I'll check this topic in a day or so to see if anyone wants a rebuttal.

Bennet so what a human died. Both sides are playing with non god made weapons. That insuregnt that was killed was a demon in the flesh brainwashed or not he chooses to kill and be gencidal. Give the US solider a new ipod to him and his family with 200 free song downloads. If you take my advice apple just let me know!
