You may not know this, but Ford,
Lincoln, Mercury, Jaguar, and Volvo are all
the same company (the Ford Motor Compnay). Global conspiracy? Not quite, just one brand re-imagining itself in the hopes that consumers will pay more for a prettier version of basically the same thing being sold cheaper on the other side of the lot. This tactic doesn't only apply to the world of autos, and HP, with its value-oriented
Compaq and high-end
Voodoo lines of computers (in addition to its own middle-of-the-road machines), is apparently looking to add a fourth tier to its business.
According to Engadget, Rahul Sood, the once CEO of Voodoo before it was brought into the HP empire, let it be known that there's a new brand coming. He didn't mention a name, but indicated it will fit somewhere between HP's mid-level offerings and Voodoo's pricier wares. Hopefully this finds better success than previous attempts at jazzing up their image.
